Memorial Day Picnic

Last Monday we performed at our church's Memorial Day picnic. As you can see in the second picture, this was our first time out with our new banner. We hope to use it in an upcoming parade this Saturday in our town of Elizabeth.

Star Spangled Banner
(by Francis Scott Key, 4th verse)

Oh, thus be it ever when freeman shall stand
Between their loved home and war’s desolation;
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land,
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, “In God is our trust.”
And the star spangled banner in triumph shall wave
While the land of the free is the home of the brave.

  1. Peter,

    That's great! I was the company piper for the 42nd Royal Highlander Regiment of Foot, and marched playing the bagpipes all the way through the parade in Beaverton, MI without stopping. I was just about dead afterwards, but then stood for about a half hour for a beautiful veterans service at the memorial. The Lutheran minister prayed a Trinitarian prayer. After the service, our regiment marched to the memorial and I soloed Amazing Grace on the pipes. The mayor personally said that the bagpipes were a special addition. Beaverton seems to be one of those few local places of good old America were men and women still fear God. It was my honor to give glory to God at that service.

  2. Peter,

    I just found this video of the Beaverton parade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8kYGvg4BkA). Although you can't see me, you can certainly here my bagpipes.
