History of America Mega-Conferance

July 2-6 we performed at the History of America Mega-Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The event included many lectures spanning four hundred years of American history, which we enjoyed in addition to performing there and meeting old and new friends. We primarily performed before the talks as people gathered.

We were also joined by Levi on the bagpipe, harkening back to some of the early roots of America.

On the Fourth of July we journeyed with a group from the History of America Mega-Conference to Gettysburg on the Fourth of July for the 150th anniversary. We went to the actual battle field (the field of Pickett's Charge where we did our own reenactment of the charge, on the hill opposite Little Round Top, and in Devil's Den), and to the reenactment.

May we continue to grow in understanding our place in history and act accordingly, gratefully acknowledging God's providential hand in guiding these events that have formed our world and giving us the blessings which we currently enjoy. May we learn from the errors and mistakes and emulate the good examples that have gone before us, building upon our God-given heritage.

Fife & Drum and DRAM in the News

Here's a news article that was included recently in a local paper featuring fife and drum and the Deep River Ancient Muster: http://americanprofile.com/articles/fife-drum-corps/ Plus, we get mentioned at the end. :)

Early Fife and Drum Recordings

The Corps of Artillery Field Music from Fort McHenry has some of the earliest recordings of fife and drum music (from around 1900) on their website: http://www.fortmchenryguard.org/corps-of-artillery-field-music/51-some-of-the-earliest-fife-and-drum-recordings-.html Pretty interesting...
